The men's team will play 14 regular season games in 2022, 10 of which will come at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill. Their season officially begins on February 11 when Richmond tours, and ACC play opens on March 10 when national champion Virginia, who is also No. 1 in the preseason polls, arrives in town. UNC will seek to avenge their loss to the Cavaliers in last year's national semi-finals. The Tar Heels are placed at No. 6 in the pre-season poll.
Three of Carolina's last four games have been on the road, including trips to Virginia and No. 3 Duke. Carolina will host the Blue Devils on April 2. In total, UNC will face eight games to play against teams currently ranked in the Precision Poll, including five straight by the end of the season. They will play six teams that qualified for the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
Unlike the men's team's home-heavy slate, the UNC women's team will start with three of four games on the road. His season begins on February 12 with a difficult road trip for James Madison. The Dukes are one of nine ranked teams that will face the Tar Heels in the regular season. The toughest test comes when Carolina visits No. 1 Boston College on March 20. The Eagles are the defending national champions, and upset the undefeated UNC in the national semi-finals last season. Carolina is second in the pre-season poll.
