Fourth Ashes Test, day five snapshot
Australia v England, 4th Test, Day 5:
Scores: Australia 8 (December) -416 and 6 (December) -265 with England 294 and 9-270
Summary: Australia hoped to take a 4-0 lead in the series with three wickets in the first session. However, a rain delay after lunch stalled the hosts' momentum, along with Ben Stokes' two long partnerships with Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow fell in the final hour, but with spinners only able to bowl at lights Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad managed to get nervous in the final two overs.
Man of the Moment: Jonny Bairstow. Struggling with an injured finger after being hit by Pat Cummins in the first innings, he backed up his century with a match-saving 105-ball knock.
Key Moment: Marcus Harris fails to dismiss Ben Stokes at short leg just before lunch. It was a difficult opportunity as it came off the bat, but Harris picked it up and should have taken it. Stokes faced 64 balls as England were held to a draw.
Status of the day: England's attempt to remain on a draw for only the 24th time in Test history went down by nine wickets in the fourth innings but managed to save the match.
