$1 million winning Powerball ticket sold in the Rio Grande Valley
BROWNSville, Texas (ValeCentral) - Texas Lottery officials said a ticket worth $1 million had been sold in Brownsville.
Tickets without the Powerball number were sold at the Stripes convenience store located at 3301 Southmost Road.
So far no one has come forward to take the ticket. In 2017 the Texas Legislature enacted HB 59 and it authorizes those who win $1 million or more to opt to remain anonymous.
In the National Powerball drawing, $630 million jackpot tickets were sold in California and Wisconsin.
The two winning tickets hit all six numbers and split the prize of approximately $632.6 million - the seventh largest in the history of the game.
"Lucky ticket holders will split the $632.6 million jackpot. The annual value of each ticket is $316.3 million or $225.1 million in cash," a Powerball news release said. "Both award options are before taxes.
The winning numbers for the drawing were 6, 14, 25, 33, 46 and Powerball 17.
